Coronavirus: A Message from our CEO
In these uncertain times, I wanted to provide you with an update on changes to the LRWA’s activity, and the potential future impact during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
We continue to adhere strictly to Government advice and our priority is to keep our members, and all those who work for the LRWA, safe and well. This means that all face-to-face meetings scheduled in the immediate future will be cancelled, and we will explore the possibility of these taking place remotely.
Looking ahead, the current situation is as follows:
RCI Show – 25th/26th March 2020
This has now been postponed until 8th/9th December 2020.
Specialist Applied-skills Programme (SAP) Training
All current SAPs are now finished and the next intake will be delayed until further notice.
Our training facilitator, Chris Bussens, is now working from home. He will continue to develop LRWA training projects, new courses and guidance.
Technical Meeting/Insulation Subcommittee – 30th April 2020:
We are hoping that this meeting can still proceed via Skype or a similar remote working tool. We will be updating members in due course.
UK Roofing Awards – 1st May 2020
This has now been postponed until Friday 2nd October 2020.
Dragon Boat Regatta – 14th May 2020:
We are working closely with our events teams, Crescendo, to consider whether we postpone this event until later in the year. We are looking at all available options and more information about this will be issued shortly.
General LRWA Activity:
We are committed to supporting our members in these challenging times and keeping the association’s activities going, including progressing key projects such as the Product Register and the LRWA Design Guide for Specifiers.
Although I will not be travelling to face-to-face meetings, my work with the CPA Working Group 12 (Grenfell), Trade Association Council plus other committees will continue by conference call.
These are exceptional circumstances, but I will try my best to minimise the impact on the association. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. It is more important than ever that we all stand by one another during these unprecedented events.
Sending my best wishes to you all.
Sarah Spink, LRWA CEO
