HEADLINE SPONSOR ANNOUNCED FOR LRWA CHARITY DRAGON BOAT REGATTA

The Liquid Roofing and Waterproofing Association (LRWA) has secured a headline sponsor for its second Dragon Boat Regatta, which will take place on 14 May 2020.

Proteus Waterproofing will be the main supporter of the event, which will help raise money for mental health charity, Mates in Mind.

Open to everyone in the roofing and waterproofing industry, the LRWA’s Dragon Boat Regatta was first launched in 2019. It saw a total of 10 teams race each other in 30ft dragon boats and attracted more than 100 people, including contractors and manufacturers from across the UK.
Jordan Bailey, director of Proteus Waterproofing, said: “As inaugural winners of the LRWA’s Dragon Boat Regatta, we felt it was right for Proteus to step up and lead the sponsorship of this great event. “Last year’s Regatta was brilliantly organised, and unique in that it gathered manufacturers, contractors and other industry professionals to help support the chosen charity as well as the liquid roofing sector and the LRWA.

“In addition to sponsoring the event, we’re looking forward to showing our support for Mates in Mind and will be back in force to fiercely defend the title we won last year!”

This year’s event will follow the same format with participants challenged to race 180m in a series of heats. The four fastest will go through to a semi-final and the top two will go head to head in a final race and the chance to win a prize. All sponsorship money raised by participants will be donated directly to Mates in Mind.

Sarah Spink, CEO of the LRWA added: “We’re really grateful to Proteus for supporting our Dragon Boat Regatta which following last year’s success, will now be an annual LRWA event.

“The day is a fantastic opportunity to raise vital funds for a very worthwhile cause and bring people together from across our industry, including non-members, to network and have lots of fun.

“The teams that took part last year were all hugely competitive, creating personalised logos and t-shirts, and I’m sure this year will be no exception.”

The LRWA Charity Dragon Boat Regatta will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Marlow, Buckinghamshire. Participants can pay to enter an entire team or as an individual or member of a mixed team. The day includes time for team training and activities as well as a BBQ and networking. Smaller sponsorship packages are also available.

Mates In Mind was founded by the Health in Construction Leadership Group with the support of the British Safety Council in 2017. It supports the sector and associated industries to improve the overall awareness of mental health and the impact of suicide with a vision to embed a positive change in workplaces across the country.
