Cold Fusion Bonded Built-Up Roof System

The Problem
The existing felt roof of the Physio Gym at Norwich Community Hospital required refurbishment, however the building below needed to remain fully operational whilst works were carried out. This ruled out the possibility of using a heat applied waterproofing system.
The Solution
A Cold Fusion Bonded Built-Up Roofing System from Sika Liquid Plastics was specified and installed by one of the company’s Quality Assured Contractors – Gray and Jarret. The complete system consists of a vapour control layer, Decotherm insulation, a carrier membrane, and a seamless Decothane Gamma 20 ‘cap sheet’. Sika Liquid Plastics’ revolutionary cold fusion adhesive – Decostik® – was used to bond the entire system, thus eliminating the need for heat or naked flame on the roof.
The Benefits
Decothane is a completely cold applied waterproofing system that cures to provide a seamless, aesthetically pleasing elastomeric membrane and is guaranteed to last for at least 20 years. It is an incredibly versatile product, which made the waterproofing of difficult detail areas possible. As it is cold applied there is no need for any heat or naked flame on the roof, and because it was applied by a Quality Assured Contractor a single point guarantee could be provided.
