Background
The Stafford Hotel is a luxury 5 star hotel in the heart of Mayfair, London.
The hotel has undergone a major refurbishment – including the addition of a brand new flagship suite – The Stafford Park Suite. The luxury accommodation – spread over 2 floors – includes a 90m2 private terrace with stunning views over the city. the designers wanted a high-end finish for the terrace to give a real wow factor to the suite. It was also imperative that a secure and reliable waterproofing system was in place to protect the other (very expensive!) hotel rooms below the terrace.
The newly refurbished roof was recently used as a location for a high fashion shoot for Grazia magazine featuring Charithra Chandran one of the main stars of Bridgerton.
The Solution
WIDOPAN products were selected to provide both the waterproofing and the decorative finish.
With parts of the hotel still operational and the terrace in close proximity to other properties, there was a concern over the use of solvents and strong odours. We are are able to provide the perfect solution with our WIDOPUR-LF 2K waterproofing system – completely solvent and odour free, works were able to be undertaken without disruption to the hotel and surrounding businesses. the system is also fully reinforced and carries a 20 year product guarantee – providing peace of mind to the client. The decorative finish of the balcony provided many challenges.
Challenges
Our WIDOPAN-Stone Carpet system was the finish of choice. the designers wanted a intricate border design using different colour stones. this proved challenging as the terrace was not a perfect square. great care was taken to ensure all the borders were measured out perfectly to flow in unison around the terrace edges.
Alongside the fantastic visual aspect of the Stone Carpet finish, there are some great technical features – including slip resistant qualities and the fact the surface remains porous – meaning no standing water on the surface.
The finished terrace definitely has the wow factor and provides a high end luxury space suited to the standard of clientele that stay at the hotel.
