What a week it was for some of our LRWA members as the Dragon Boat Regatta made its long-awaited return after a six-year break last week.
On Wednesday (10 September), teams took to the waters at the Cotswold Water Park for an unforgettable and fun day of competition and camaraderie. A huge thank you and well done to all the teams who took part and brought 100% effort. The laughter and positive energy continued throughout the day.
Despite torrential downpours, nine hardworking teams battled it out on the water, with the competition culminating in a tense final between MLG UK and Proteus Spartans. In a dramatic finish, Proteus Spartans retained their 2019 title, crossing the line just fourteenth of a second ahead.
Congratulations to our medal winners, who were;
- Gold: Proteus Spartans
- Silver: MLG UK
- Bronze: Emperor Scorpions
Special mention also goes to the team in the Green Roof Organisation (GRO) boat, who proudly scooped the coveted prize of a rubber duck each for finishing in ninth place!
This was the first LRWA Dragon Boat Regatta since 2019, when COVID-19 restrictions and other priorities delayed its return. Revived this year as a trial, the overwhelming enthusiasm and success of the event means we are now exploring opportunities to make the Regatta a regular fixture in the LRWA calendar. More information about future events will be communicated to all members.
Finally, thank you to all our members who took the time out of their busy schedules to support the event: MLG UK, Axter, SPV Special Projects, Emperor Roofing, Ravago, Sika, Proteus Waterproofing, the Green Roof Organisation (GRO) and the Roberts Group.
