- LRWA & CCPI: Sector-specific Words & Phrases to Avoid
The LRWA is pleased to welcome Steve Marr, COO of the Code for Construction Product Information (CCPI), for a dedicated online session on CCPI words and phrases that construction marketing and communications should avoid using.
This session is open to all LRWA members, particularly those in marketing and technical roles who write, edit or approve construction product information, or who have any part to play in that process.
Members raised the topic directly, and this session is the first step towards developing a dedicated, sector-specific ‘Words and Phrases to Avoid Using’ document for the liquid roofing and waterproofing sector, building on the CCPI’s existing guidance.
- Existing Guidance
Word choice in construction marketing has come under closer scrutiny since the Grenfell Tower fire, when misleading product claims were identified as a contributing factor. As a result, sector bodies including the CCPI now publish specific guidance on the kind of language that can mislead specifiers, contractors and building owners. This session translates that broader guidance into terms that apply specifically to liquid roofing and waterproofing.
Before the session, we encourage attendees to read through the CCPI’s Words and Phrases to Avoid Using document. Familiarising yourself with this guidance in advance will help you get the most out of the session.
We’d also encourage you to think ahead of time about any discussion points, questions or topics relevant to your own work that you’d like to raise, since this session is your opportunity to ask CCPI directly.
