Our online training academy makes specialist, theory-based learning accessible to a wide audience, from installers and contractors to specifiers and industry professionals.

The LRWA is an accredited CPD provider (Provider No. 15047). Every course on this page has been independently benchmarked to recognised CPD training standards, so the hours you complete count towards your professional development record.

Three courses are currently available:

Covering everything from a broad introduction to the sector through to detailed technical guidance on a specific application. Each is delivered in structured sections, with an online assessment at the end of each one to check your understanding before you move on.

Once everything has been completed and passed, your certificate is available to download immediately.

A broad introduction to the liquid roofing and waterproofing sector, designed for anyone working in the industry, whether you are new to the sector or looking to strengthen your existing knowledge.

The course begins with an introduction to the LRWA and the fundamentals of designing liquid roofs, before moving through core topics including roof construction, regulations, material selection and installation practice.

It provides a solid, self-paced technical grounding across the full lifecycle of a liquid roofing project.

Foundation in Liquid Applied Flat Roofing

Approximately five to six learning hours, completable over 10 weeks at your own pace.

The course is delivered through an introduction and six modules:

  • Introduction to the LRWA
  • Module 1: Types of Roof Construction
  • Module 2: The Regulations and Minimum Standards for Design, Materials and Construction
  • Module 3: Selection of Materials
  • Module 4: Estimating, Surveying and Planning
  • Module 5: Health and Safety Awareness
  • Module 6: Installation of Liquid Applied Membranes

A free CPD course for specifiers, covering who LRWA is, the range of liquid waterproofing systems available, and the resources available to support specification decisions.

The course traces the sector’s development from the earliest use of bitumen as a waterproofing material through to LRWA’s own history, before covering the generic types of liquid applied membrane in use today and their performance benefits.

It closes with a practical guide to the tools and resources LRWA offers to help specifiers make informed decisions with confidence.

Guidance on industry standards and best practice for installing pedestal systems across flat roof terraces, podiums, balconies and walkways.

The course covers the functions and types of pedestal systems available, the design considerations needed for safe and reliable installation, and the key building regulations affecting fire safety and compliance.

It also examines four fundamental problems that commonly arise from incorrect installation, with practical guidance on how to avoid them.
