- Member Webinar: CCPI - Sector-specific Words & Phrases to Avoid Using
This session is the first step in building a dedicated, liquid roofing and waterproofing-specific ‘Words and Phrases to Avoid Using’ guide, tailored to our sector’s own terminology and products. We need member input to shape it.
The LRWA is pleased to welcome the Code for Construction Product Information (CCPI), for a dedicated member webinar on the words and phrases construction marketing and communications should avoid using.
This session is open to all LRWA members, particularly those in marketing and technical roles who write, edit or approve construction product information, or who have any part to play in that process.
Members raised the topic directly, and this session is the first step towards developing sector-specific guidance that reflects how liquid roofing and waterproofing products are actually described, sold and specified.
- Using the Existing Guidance as a Foundation
The CCPI’s existing guidance is a useful general starting point, but it isn’t exhaustive, definitive, or written specifically for our sector. Different products and sectors carry their own terminology, claims and grey areas that a general list won’t cover.
That’s the gap this project is aiming to tackle, and it’s why we need LRWA members who understand our sector’s language to be part of the conversation. Word choice in construction marketing has come under increasing scrutiny since the Grenfell Tower fire, with misleading product claims identified as a contributing factor. The CCPI’s list is a useful foundation, but the LRWA is now starting a project to build on it with a sector-specific list for liquid roofing and waterproofing.
Before the session, we encourage attendees to read the CCPI’s Words and Phrases to Avoid Using guidance and come prepared with any questions, examples or discussion points from your own work, particularly any sector-specific terms or phrases you think should be addressed.
- Who should attend
Open to all LRWA members, this session is particularly relevant if you write, edit or approve construction product information, whether in marketing, technical, or another role that touches this process. If you’ve already read the general CCPI guidance, this is your chance to help translate it into something built for liquid roofing and waterproofing.
